West Web Festival 2017: A European Web summer school!
“Business as unusual” was the theme of the 2017 edition of the West Web Festival held in Carhaix, in central Brittany, at the Vieilles Charrues festival. Organized by the West Web Valley *, this fourth edition of the WWF took place on 13 and 14 July in one of the biggest European music festivals with 280,000 festival-goers!

600 wide-ranging decision-makers, start-ups and companies met for two days to discuss the main trends of the web. On the menu: lectures, music and networking. Each year, distinguished guests are invited to share their knowledge and vision of the future with visitors. As with the Vieilles Charrues, guests at the West Web Festival take center stage of the digital and economical scene. A poster where we can meet the representatives of Air BnB, Microsoft, Google ….
At the end of the day, the participants were able to listen the artists on the music scenes of the Festival.
Within this web event, a start-up battle promoted eight young start-ups selected from among a hundred candidates. They presented their concept in 30 seconds, then responded to problems through 45-second rounds. The themes were randomly selected at the beginning of each match and covered the business model, big data, partnership, competition, break-even point, market, commercial strategy … Ultimate oral test for competitors: Question proposed by the other seven finalists!
This year, the Breton start-up Frigo Magic (free application to cook daily with the ingredients only present in your fridge and closet) won the contest with an immersion journey within the Silicon Valley, which encourages its development!
