Root Music presents NIMPE at the English Folk Expo 2017
Our UK partner Root Music will present NIMPE and European Live Music Association networking activities at The English Folk Expo, one of the fastest growing industry events in the UK, taking place in Manchester from 19th – 21st October.
English folk music, as a genre distinct from British Celtic traditions, has experienced a dramatic revival in recent years, seeing a new generation of young, daring and skilled artists emerge, with this explosion of young talent creating some of the best music, of any genre, coming out of England.
Meanwhile iconic artists, some of whom first took to the stage in the original folk revival of the 1960s, continue to provide inspiration and unforgettable performances. English Folk Expo welcomes the world’s music industry to experience this vibrant and rapidly expanding source of folk music talent.
From 2013-2016 English Folk Expo was held in Bury in Greater Manchester. In 2017 it will move into the First Street quarter of central Manchester, basing itself at the new £25m arts centre HOME where it will be presented in tandem with a new public festival, Manchester Folk Festival, programmer by David Agnew of So It Is Ltd.. EFEx is always held the weekend before Womex.
Manchester Folk Festival performances will take place across the stages of HOME and nearby venues including Bridgewater Hall, Gorilla, The Ritz and more, with capacities of between 80 and 2500, all found within a few minutes’ walk of the central venue.
